Poplar Plywood Lining for a Tiny House

Its hard to bet poplar for wall and ceiling lining in a mobile tiny house due to its lightweight properties. We feel it also looks good too and can take a variety of finishers like, stain, white wash, paint and lacquer. Its pretty soft and nice work with and cut, use a sharpe blade for good results.

Most if not all poplar ply is imported which is probably the reason for ‘non standard’ sheet sizes. Bare this in mind as in most cases its best to land the studs and nogs on the parameter of the sheets. This may mean moving away from the ‘standard’ 600mm centers on framing in ensure you utilize the plywood sheets efficiently.

We feel 6-7mm thickness for lining is fine, especially when taking into account overall weight.
