Are you a DIYer or maybe a builder and have some ideas for your tiny house design but battling to pull them together, or just need it drawn up? There is a lot to think about and mountains of research to digest to understand what approach is going to work for you. Questions like, what toilet should I use? Do I need 12v lighting? What thicknesses of plywood should I line my walls with? Will my house be under the legal weight limit…. you get the idea. After designing many tiny houses and living in one for a number of years we understand what works and what does not. We can save you a lot of time and hopefully mistakes if you decide to work with us on your design.

• We use 3D CAD software that means the design is quick to change and you can see the ideas in ‘real perspective’. This means you can quickly try an idea, see if it works and move forward.

• We use a holistic approach to design, meaning we look at all aspects of the tiny house and its systems and integrate them to work for you. We love great looking houses but there is more to it than that.

• Using software we can estimate/get very accurate weights for some or all of the house materials and trailer, ensuring its total weight will be under the 3.5 tonne max in NZ.

• On a similar note we can ensure weight balancing on the trailer is spot on, so no guessing to ensure safe towing.

• Can optimise raw materiel sizes to maximise material usage, therefore saving money on the build.

• We can design around any trailer or you can use one of ours, either way we will work with you to get simple and thought out integration, loading and balancing.

• Offer suggestions on good appliances that suit tiny houses and where to source them from.

• We can reduce your heating costs of your house using passive design methods - you may not even need a heater, imagine that.

• We love building science so can get techie if you want, we love talking passive house, cross ventilation, and thermal conductivity as a few examples.

• Specialize in optimising and designing SIP’s Structural Insulated Panels.

• Possible to CNC router cut parts from the design for example the kitchen (see services below). Has the advantages of understanding weights, perfect cuts, lightweight and very quick assembly.

Services we can provide

• Concept generation - using your ideas we generate a number of concepts from your tiny house ideas.

• Concept development - once a concept is chosen we can develop and work with you to finalise the 3D model.

• Plans - once finalised we can either output 2D drawings/plans and or a 3D model that you can spin, section and measure yourself.

• Weight and balancing - a simple model gives an indication of weight and balancing but more detailed modeling is required to get accurate weights.

• Kitchen Design - We can design your kitchen in full detail if required or if you want to CNC cut out and assemble your kitchen we can supply the cutting files for this.

• Wiring and plumbing drawings - we can provide working drawings that detail pipe/wire runs and terminations.

• Solar study - once we have a rough 3D model we can run different sun studies to optimise things like window placement, shading and house overheating which can be a common problem for tiny houses.

• Renders - we can produce ‘real looking’ house renders to get a better idea of look and feel.
